There Will be no Shrink Wrapping of Yosemite
I’m packing to fly to a wedding in Yosemite National Park.
I’ve never been there. I am so thankful the wild fire has been mostly contained. The bride and groom are even more thankful.
The wonder I have at those firefighters’ ability to protect the park is only heightened by how much I’ve been looking forward to seeing it.
Travel is so vital. Especially to those of us whose minds tend to get sucked towards problems and bend around them, shrink-wrapping them in thought.
Every time I go somewhere new, my perspective shifts the tiniest bit, everyone’s does. We come back feeling smaller, and less important, and freer for both those things. We need it. We need to witness the hugeness of a world that can seem very confining at times.
I’m told Yosemite is this times a million. I’m told Yosemite is too big to shrink wrap.
